The Meeting Owl 3 is out! What's new compared to the Meeting Owl Pro?

The new Meeting Owl 3 is now out and ready to ship, but what's new on the latest Owl Labs All-in-One video conferencing system?

If you have used the Meeting Owl Pro before, you will be familiar with the design and 360° view of the room. The Meeting Owl 3 has the same look and feel as the Meeting Owl Pro but features some key improvements.

Improved Intelligence System

The Meeting Owl 3 features an enhanced operating system: the Owl Intelligence System. It uses artificial intelligence, computer vision and machine learning to focus automatically on the speaker in a meeting.

Improvements include faster and smoother speaker transitions, better zooming capabilities, greater accuracy in highlighting the speaker and better recognition of speakers who are quieter, further away or wearing masks.
Sound equalization has also been improved to automatically adjust for louder and quieter voices as well as for the voices of remote meeting participants.

These improvements mean the Meeting Owl 3 is 58% better at detecting faces that are further away, 5x better at accurately detecting people wearing masks, 4x faster at recognising and focusing on people and finally has a increased video pick up range of 3m (10ft).

USB-C Connectivity

The Meeting Owl 3 features a USB-C connector and comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable as standard.

USB-C connectivity is becoming more common on the latest equipment and computers thanks to its higher data transfer rates and smaller, symmetrical connector. It will soon be the industry standard for USB connections.
The Meeting Owl 3 is not only keeping up to date with the rest of your electronic equipment but making it easier to connect.

If your computer doesn't have a USB-C connector, you can still use the Meeting Owl 3 with a USB-A to USB-C cable or adapter (not included).

Expansion Microphone

Along with the Meeting Owl 3, Owl Labs have released a new Expansion Mic for larger rooms.

The Meeting Owl 3 now includes a micro HDMI connection to connect the microphone and extend the audio pick up range by 2.5m (8ft) from 5.5m (18ft) to 8m (26ft) for a single Meeting Owl 3 and Expansion mic system.
For even larger rooms, you can connect two Meeting Owl 3 devices with Owl Connect, each with an Expansion mic to reach up to 18m (60ft) of audio pick up.

The Expansion Mic also features a mute button providing greater access for people around the room to mute/unmute the whole microphone system during a meeting.

New Main Stage Design

Along with the new Meeting Owl 3, the Main Stafe view has been re-designed with new icons, borders etc. to look cleaner and more professional.

Do I need to replace my Meeting Owl Pro?

The Meeting Owl 3 is backward compatible with the Meeting Owl Pro so you don't need to replace your Meeting Owl Pro if you would like to connect two Owl devices in larger rooms; you can use your existing Meeting Owl Pro and a new Meeting Owl 3 with Owl Connect.

Also the software and operating system updates launched with the Meeting Owl 3 will be part of an upgrade to the Meeting Owl Pro expected later in the year.

If however you would like to take advantage of the new USB-C connectivity or use an Expansion Mic, you will need the Meeting Owl 3 because the Meeting Owl Pro is not compatible with the Expansion Mic.
